Our Heritage

Born in Saharanpur,
Beloved Across India

Guruji Chair was founded by a family of third-generation woodworkers in Saharanpur — a city celebrated across the subcontinent as India's woodcraft capital. Our journey began with a single vision: to honour India's spiritual leaders with seating worthy of their stature.

What started as a small workshop with two master craftsmen has grown into a celebrated brand trusted by ashrams, temples, mandaps, and spiritual institutions from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Yet our heart remains unchanged — every piece is still made entirely by hand, with the same devotion and precision as day one.

"We do not make chairs. We carve thrones for those who carry the light of wisdom."

— Founding Philosophy, Guruji Chair, Saharanpur

Under the banner of Aarsun Woods, we continue to push the boundaries of Indian woodcraft — blending centuries-old joinery traditions with contemporary design sensibility, while always keeping sacred symbolism at the core of every creation.

Our Journey

25 Years of Sacred Craftsmanship

From a single workshop in Saharanpur to a pan-India institution of spiritual furniture.

Year 2000

The First Chisel Strike

Founded in Saharanpur by master carpenter Shri Ram Prakash ji, our first workshop produced three Guru ji chairs for a local temple — each taking three weeks of meticulous handwork. Word spread quickly through the local satsang community.

2005 – 2010

Growing Into North India

Orders began flowing in from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan. We expanded our workshop, trained 12 new artisans in traditional carving techniques, and introduced our signature Antique Gold Leaf finishing process — a technique handed down through generations.

2012

The Jagadguru Series

Commissioned by a revered spiritual institution, we developed our most elaborate collection to date — the Jagadguru Series. These grand thrones, adorned with sacred Vedic motifs and 22-karat gold leaf, took 6 months of collaborative artisan work to perfect.

2017

Aarsun Woods & Digital Expansion

We launched our brand identity under Aarsun Woods and took Guruji Chair online, reaching spiritual communities across every state in India. For the first time, temples in Tamil Nadu, Bengal, and Maharashtra could access our Saharanpur craftsmanship directly.

2020 – Present

A Living Legacy

Today, over 10,000 chairs carry our craftsmanship into sacred spaces across India. Our team of 30+ artisans continues to evolve, with new collections, custom bespoke programmes, and a commitment to keeping India's woodcraft tradition vibrantly alive for generations to come.

What We Stand For

Our Core Values

The four pillars that guide every decision, every chisel stroke, and every piece we release into the world.

01
🙏

Sacred Purpose

We believe furniture destined for spiritual spaces carries a higher responsibility. Every joint, carving, and finish is executed with devotion — as an offering, not a transaction.

02
🤲

Uncompromised Handcraft

No mass production. No shortcuts. Every Guruji Chair is built by human hands using techniques refined over 25 years. Machines cannot replicate the soul a master artisan pours into each piece.

03
🌿

Responsible Materials

We source only premium, sustainably harvested hardwoods — Sheesham, Teak, Mango, and Deodar — from trusted suppliers. Beauty and ethics are never in conflict at Guruji Chair.

04
♾️

Built for Eternity

A Guruji Chair is not furniture for a decade — it is an heirloom for generations. Traditional joinery, premium finishes, and rigorous quality checks ensure each piece outlives its original owner.

The Making

How a Guruji Chair is Born

Each chair passes through six stages of pure handwork before it earns the right to bear our name.

1

Wood Selection

Our master selects each log personally — judging grain, density, and moisture for structural integrity and beauty.

2

Seasoning

Timber is air-dried for 6–12 months to prevent warping, cracking, or seasonal movement once the chair is in use.

3

Shaping & Joinery

Using chisels, draw-knives, and hand planes, the frame is shaped using mortise-and-tenon joints for lifelong strength.

4

Carving

Skilled carvers spend 20–80 hours engraving sacred motifs — floral scrolls, lotus, lion, peacock — one mallet strike at a time.

5

Finishing

Surfaces are sanded through 6 grits, then treated with natural oils, lacquers, or authentic gold leaf as per design.

6

Quality & Dispatch

Every chair undergoes a 20-point inspection before being carefully packed and dispatched — fully insured — to your door.

We bought a wood partition screen made to order and painted white. Its exactly what we ordered, the price was right and included delivery. Did not have to wait long for it to be delivered to our home here in Kerala. Excellent packing in a strong box so no chance to get damaged on the way. Customer service was great with emails and whatsapp messages as well as follow up after delivery to check if we were happy with the product. No hesitation in recommending Aarsun for a job well done. Thank You!.
